diy Opora Rays oil-free facial cream

If your skin is oily or has a tendency to acne even after 30, then I am sure that the last thing you want is to burden it with products that are not absorbed immediately. This does not mean, however, that you should not take care of your skin, because even oily skin needs hydration. So I decided to give another recipe for a cream that responds to these needs but has an important feature: it is oil free which means that the texture of this product is not greasy, has a matte effect and leaves a nice fresh feeling after application.

Opora Rays oil-free Facial Cream
recipe for 100 g | 3.54 oz

phase a’
36 g | 1.23 oz witch hazel floral water
30 g | 1.06 oz lavender floral water
18 g | 0.63 oz aloe vera gel
4 g | 0.14 oz BTMS
1 g | 0.07 oz cetyl alcohol

phase b’
3 g | 0.11 oz hyaluronic acid
2 g | 0.07 oz silk protein
2 g | 0.07 oz provitamin B5 (d- panthenol)
1 g | 0.04 oz pomegranate extract (water- soluble)
1 g | 0.04 oz cucumber extract (water- soluble)
1 g | 0.04 oz dragon’s blood (water- soluble)
1 g | 0.04 oz broad spectrum preservative

  • Before you start making the cream, sterilise tools, containers, work surface and wear your gloves.
  • In a beaker, pour all the phase A ingredients and place it in double boiler (bain marie). When BTMS and cetyl alcohol are melted, stir with a coffee mixer, until the mixture is homogenised. Remove the beaker from the heat and continue stirring for about 1 minute. When the temperature drops to 36 Celsius, add all the phase B ingredients. Stir again by hand and the cream is ready.

The cream is suitable for oily, combination and normal skin types. However, you can replace the flower water or the active ingredients with the ones that best suit your skin.

Witch hazel is astringent, cleanses the skin and removes blackheads, lavender corrects small skin imperfections and fights the appearance of wrinkles while aloe vera gel increases collagen production, moisturizes and reduces redness and irritation.

BTMS is a cationic emulsifier. Used alone or in combination with other emulsifiers. It enhances the protection of the skin and the softness of the hair. Here, I combined BTMS with cetyl alcohol, which acts at this stage as an emollient and stabilizer. I used BTMS 50 for this recipe, however BTMS 225 can also be used at a rate of 1-10% depending on the desired density.

Hyaluronic acid moisturizes and helps fill in wrinkles from the inside out, silk protein cleanses oily skin and gives elasticity, while the synergistic effect of pomegranate, cucumber and dragon's blood extracts heals the skin and repairs the skin tissues.
