Opora was a goddess mentioned by Homer as the personification of Autumn and this is why our new project is dedicated to her. The ancient Greeks considered Opora the deity of the ripened fruit of late summer (opora< ancient Greek “οπώρα”< fruit) while was one of the attendants of goddess Eirene. It is probably represented in reliefs of the temples of Serapis and Isis discovered in Athens.

Today we are going to make strawberry soap using the melt and pour method for our friend and neighbour Frau Litsa. It is very easy to make and can be a creative activity during the afternoon coffee with your friends. The formula contains strawberry seed oil and mono de Tahiti butter because we want to give moisturizing properties to our soap and avoid the feeling of dry skin after bathing.

If something has been of particular concern to me since I started writing, it is whether the reader can manage the information he receives; I used to have doubts if it’s ok to write here how to make soap from scratch. This time the menu has a different soap, an exotic soap, a soap with roots in Africa!Actually, it is a mixture of coconut oil  and shea butter, rich in antioxidant ingredients, cleanses in deep and the most important, it doesn’t “dry” the skin comparing it with other soaps of the market; it moisturises the skin so much that you don’t need to apply a lotion on you after bathing! 

It does not contain SLS.

Summer is here at last and while I was eating a yummy watermelon, I said to myself that it’s about time to make a watermelon soap, which I see very often on the internet the last few years. So, I made it with the melt & pour method and instead of watermelon seeds, I used poppy seeds which are one the best exfoliants. I must mention that I am very happy because I tried for the first time the swirling method and I can tell that the effort was succeeded and the soapy watermelon peel looks more playful.

Last days I was busy with a very special project, which usually doesn’t concern me because generally I am an anti- conformist person. What I mean? Since I remember myself working on a business sector such as natural cosmetics, I avoid systematically to deal with seasonal products; I’m not interested to make “easy money” because first of all I am a creative human being and not a merchant and secondly I am lazy. I don’t like to put myself under pressure. And an authentic Christmas project has to put me under pressure, if I want it to be successful.

Μετά από πολλά πειράματα, ήρθε η ώρα (επιτέλους) να δημοσιεύσω συνταγή αφρού ξυρίσματος για τους άντρες, οι οποίοι σε αυτό τουλάχιστον το blog, είναι ολίγον παραμελημένοι και ζητώ συγνώμη γι’ αυτό, θα επανορθώσω. Το συγκεκριμένο προϊόν, το χρησιμοποιούν πελάτες, φίλοι και συγγενείς εδώ και αρκετό καιρό αλλά κλασσικά, δεν κατάφερα ποτέ- λόγω έλλειψης χρόνου κυρίως- να γράψω για αυτό.

Όσοι τον χρησιμοποιούν, μου είπαν να σας πω ότι αν ξεκινήσετε να εφαρμόζετε τέτοιου είδους προϊόν, δεν θα μπορέσετε να ξαναχρησιμοποιήσετε τους κοινούς αφρούς που κυκλοφορούν στο εμπόριο, ξέρετε, αυτούς που είναι σκέτη χημεία. Thank you guys!

Στην ουσία πρόκειται για ένα είδος σαπουνιού με τη μέθοδο melt & pour, το οποίο με τη βοήθεια του παραδοσιακού πινέλου ξυρίσματος, δημιουργεί έναν κρεμώδη αφρό, ο οποίος λιπαίνει την επιδερμίδα τόσο, ώστε να γλυστράει το ξυραφάκι χωρίς να πληγώνει- ουλές και κοψίματα, ξεχάστε τα. Δεν αφήνει λιπαρότητα, δεν φράζει τους πόρους αλλά δεν αφυδατώνει κιόλας την επιδερμίδα, αντιθέτως, περιποιείται κι ενυδατώνει σε βάθος.

Αυτό το σαπούνι ξυρίσματος είναι επίσης κατάλληλο για γυναικεία πόδια & μασχάλες (σιγά που δεν θα ήταν).

υλικά:

150 γρ. λευκή βάση σαπουνιού

8 γρ. λευκή άργιλος

5 γρ. βούτυρο καριτέ

5 γρ. έλαιο κάνναβης

4 γρ. άρωμα καλλυντικού της αρεσκείας σας (εγώ έβαλα “Bulgari Black”)

χρώμα ζαχαροπλαστικής (προαιρετικά)

εργαλεία: 

καλούπι σιλικόνης

επιφάνεια κοπής

μαχαίρι

1 ποτήρι ζέσεως

ηλεκτρονικό θερμόμετρο

ηλεκτρονική ζυγαριά

αναδευτηράκι χειρός

ψεκαστικό με οινόπνευμα ή αλκοολούχο λοσιόν

• Πριν ξεκινήσουμε τη διαδικασία παρασκευής, αποστειρώνουμε εργαλεία, συσκευασίες κι επιφάνεια εργασίας.
• Ζυγίζουμε τη βάση σαπουνιού και την κόβουμε σε κυβάκια πάνω στην επιφάνεια κοπής.
• Βάζουμε τους κύβους σαπουνιού στο ποτήρι ζέσεως και τοποθετούμε σε bain marie με σιγανή φωτιά.
• Όταν λιώσει το σαπούνι μας, απομακρύνουμε από τη φωτιά και ανακατεύουμε λίγο να βεβαιωθούμε ότι έχει λιώσει εντελώς, χωρίς να έχει μέινει κάποιο κομμάτι.
• Ελέγχουμε τη θερμοκρασία να είναι στους 60 βαθμούς Κελσίου και ρίχνουμε το βούτυρο καριτέ. Ανακατεύουμε καλά μέχρι να λιώσει εντελώς.
• Προσθέτουμε την άργιλο αργά αργά ενώ παράλληλα ανακατεύουμε με το αναδευτηράκι χειρός (μικρός αυγοδάρτης). Για να ομογενοποιηθεί καλύτερα, χρησιμοποιείστε προαιρετικά το μιξεράκι του καφέ- μερικές στροφές μόνο, δεν θέλουμε φυσαλίδες στο σαπούνι.
• Βάζουμε το άρωμα που επιλέξαμε και ανακατεύουμε πάλι.
• Ψεκάζουμε με αλκοολούχο λοσιόν ή οινόπνευμα για να απομακρύνουμε τις φυσαλίδες. Ψεκάζουμε και μέσα στο σκεύος που θα χυτεύσουμε το σαπούνι μας. 
• Χυτεύουμε το σαπούνι μας και τώρα προσοχή: ανακατεύουμε αργά και σταθερά και λίγο πριν αρχίσει να πήζει το σαπούνι, προσθέτουμε το έλαιο κάνναβης. Ανακατεύουμε αργά αργά πάλι, ψεκάζουμε με οινόπνευμα και περιμένουμε να στερεοποιηθεί. Έτοιμο!
• Το έλαιο κάνναβης το πρόσθεσα στο τέλος με αυτόν τον τρόπο γιατί πρόκειται για ένα πάρα πολύ ευαίσθητο έλαιο το οποίο καταστρέφεται στις μεγάλες θερμοκρασίες. Θα μπορούσα να χρησιμοποιήσω άλλο φυτικό έλαιο όμως εγώ ήθελα να πάρω τις εξαιρετικές ιδιότητες του ιδιότητες: έλαιο αντιγηραντικό και αναπλαστικό, πλούσιο σε αντιοξειδωτικά και βιταμίνες με την ιδανική αναλογία 3:1 των ω3 και ω6 λιπαρών οξέων.
• Το βούτυρο καριτέ αυξάνει την ελαστικότητα της επιδερμίδας συσφίγγει και αναζωογονεί το δέρμα και σε συνδυασμό με το έλαιο κάνναβης, μαλακώνει την τρίχα σε τέτοιο βαθμό ώστε να αποφεύγεται το κόψιμο από το ξυραφάκι.
• Η προσθήκη λευκής αργίλου στο σαπούνι, προσδίδει καθαριστική δράση, αφήνει το δέρμα μεταξένιο ενώ βοηθάει σε έναν απαλό και πλούσιο αφρισμό.
• Το σκεύος που χρησιμοποίησα για να χυτεύσω το σαπούνι, είναι ατομικό πυρίμαχο που χρησιμοποιούμε στη μαγειρική.
