diy Lilac Drops facial peeling mask

Although I am a fan of other facial cleansing methods such as oleo gels and clays, this time I decided to make a gentle exfoliating cream that will also be used as a mask because my friend Thalia asked me to.
Scrubs actually remove dead skin cells, give glow to dull skin, but this applies more to the rest of the body and not to the face. A good facial cleansing however helps the skin absorb products such as creams and serums and work more effectively.

For example, I will not use sugar or salt on the face for exfoliation as it is more than certain that they will cause opposite results from what I seek, such as dryness, redness, irritation etc and it makes sense as the facial skin is more sensitive and thinner than the skin of the rest of the body.
The peeling agents that can be used without fear for facial exfoliation are clays, herbal powders such as oats, rose, hibiscus, matcha tea, mastic powder and soft grains/ seeds such as jojoba, rice, strawberry, cherry, grape.

So this formula, in addition to exfoliation, is also a luxurious rejuvenating mask with moisturizing ingredients such as honey extract, d- panthenol and allantoin but also oily agents such as mango butter and macula oil.
Let's make it!

Lilac Drops Facial Peeling Mask
formula for 100 g | 3.55 oz

oily phase:
7 g | 0.25 oz mango butter
5 g | 0.18 oz marula oil
4 g | 0.14 oz sweet almond oil
6 g | 0.21 oz emulsifying wax
2 g | 0.07 oz cetyl alcohol

water phase:
55,5 g | 1.96 oz violet floral water
10 g | 0.35 oz aloe vera gel
1 g | 0.04 oz allantoin

additives:
3 g | 0.11 oz plum kernel oil
2 g | 0.07 oz silk protein
2 g | 0.07 oz honey extract
1 g | 0.04 oz d-panthenol
0,5 g | 0.02 oz vitamin E
1 g | 0.04 oz broad spectrum preservative
cherry powder (I eyeballed it)

Before you start making the mask, you sterilise tools, containers, work surface. Don’ t forget your gloves.

Follow the cosmetic cream preparation procedure which you can find, here.

I didn’t measure the cherry powder, I eyeballed it. The reason I do not give quantity is because I want you to see how much amount needs your skin, without causing irritation. In any case, do not overdo it! Start with a very little quantity (1 gramm) and try it; you’ ll see if you need more.

  • plum kernel oil is added at the end. The reason I chose it for the whole Lilac Drops line is because it has its own natural scent that looks like bitter almond and I do not need to add any other fragrance or essential oil.
  • mango butter has antioxidant activity as it contains vitamins A, C and E, marula oil seals the moisture in the skin and leaves it soft, while sweet almond oil nourishes and improves the appearance of the skin.
  • violet floral water is cleansing and anti-inflammatory, aloe vera gel regenerates and heals while allantoin removes dead cells and rejuvenates the skin.
  • silk protein, honey extract and d-panthenol heal the skin and smooth its appearance while vitamin E moisturizes the skin but also protects the product from oxidation.

Use the mask at night, twice a week.

Apply the product on the face, leave for up to 2 minutes and gently massage in circular motions for about 30 seconds.

Leave the product on the face for 20 minutes. Rinse well with warm water and dry face. Apply your moisturizer.

Do not use on damaged or irritated skin.
Avoid eye contact.
