diy coco choco body scrub

About two or three days ago I felt my skin absolutely dehydrated and even though I am always trying to keep my skin moisturised, I realized that it was time for a real exfoliation. Either way, after the summer season, deep skin care is an urgent need. For my scrub I picked cocoa powder and coconut sugar that I already had in my kitchen.

Cocoa, as you may know, is rich in basic minerals such as magnesium, calcium, iron, zinc, copper, potassium and manganese while containing complex B vitamins (B1, B2, B3), vitamins A, C, E, as well as ald. Generally, it causes a feeling of euphoria as it is rich in antioxidants and biologically active substances such as theobromine, flavonoids and phenylethylamine which is believed to impart to the chocolate psychoactive properties.
When applied to the body, it can stimulate and soothe the skin while systematic application even helps reduce cellulite as it enhances blood circulation.

Coconut sugar is a raw sweetener that comes from the coconut tree flowers. It is produced by low temperature processing, which keeps natural sugar enzymes intact and is one of the best alternative, with more minerals, fiber, is more environmentally friendly and can sweeten you in the best possible way. In our case, it acts as a water magnet as it retains water molecules in the skin while removing dead cells and detoxifying the skin.

Coco Choco Body Scrub
recipe for 300 g | 10.6 oz

150 g | 5.3 oz coconut sugar
90 g | 3.2 oz natural sea salt from Mani
20 g | 0.71 oz cupuacu butter
15 g | 0.53 oz monoi butter
15 g | 0.53 oz coconut oil
5 g | 0.18 oz sweet almond oil
1 g | 0.04 oz vitamin E
1 g | 0.04 oz brοad spectrum preservative
1 g | 0.04 oz chocolate BIO extract
cocoa powder (I eyeballed it)

Sterilize tools, equipment, work surface and wear your gloves.
Weigh ingredients.
Prepare a water bath, by filling a heat- proof saucepan 1/3 full of water and place it to low heat. Add the butters in a beaker and place it in your prepared water bath to melt everything through. Remove the beaker from the water bath and dry it off with a towel.
Place all ingredients in a bowl and mix them. Transfer in containers.

I just eyeballed the measurement of cocoa powder (try not to laugh). You can add a tbsp of cocoa powder, stir and watch if you need to add more.

Summary of ingredient benefits

Sea salt removes accumulated pollutants and detoxifies the skin.

Cupuacu butter derives from cupuacu tree, which belongs to the same family as the cocoa tree, and is often replaced by cocoa butter. It helps to improve the skin appearance and is an excellent moisturizing agent as it penetrates the skin quickly.

Monoi butter is a soft butter and therefore is used in massage. It has amazing moisturizing properties with intense action in case of excessive dryness of the skin.
Coconut oil is compatible with all skin types with special emollient properties while sweet almond oil is traditionally used to enhance skin elasticity as it contains very high levels of tocopherol.

Vitamin E protects the oily ingredients from being oxidized. The chocolate extract is BIO and I found it here. Alternatively, you can replace it with a few drops of vanilla extract.
