cupcake bath bombs by Stella Crown
What's better than a delicious cupcake? more cupcakes, whispers a little voice in my ear. The right answer for the style of this blog though, is cute bath bombs that look like cupcakes!
They are surprisingly easy to make while they can become a beautiful, special and economic gift! Suitable for relaxation and rejuvenation after a busy day and can be used even from your children if you avoid the essential oils, turning the bath time into a play!
The recipe today includes also soap frosting for extra foaming!

15 g | 0.5 oz vegetable glycerin
50 g | 2 oz rose floral water

6 drops lavender essential oil
5 drops jasmine essential oil
3 drops rose essential oil

cutting surface
2 beakers
  • Before you start making the cupcake bath bombs, you sterilise tools, equipment, working surface and don’t forget to wear your gloves.
  • For the bath bombs: weigh all the ingredients and pour witch hazel floral water in the spray bottle.
  • Pass the baking soda, the cream of tartar and the corn starch through the sieve into the deep bowl, to remove chunks. Mix slightly with your stainless steel whisk. add the epsom salts, the coconut and quinoa milk powders and mix again. Be careful not to lift dust.
  • Pour the sal butter into a beaker and place it in double boiler (bain marie method) with low temperature. When the butter is melted, add it to your mixture while stirring with your fingers. Add the essential oils and food colouring and mix well with your hands quickly; be careful no to foam the mixture.
  • Continue stirring with the hand mixer now, while you spritz your mixture with the floral water. Don’t stop stirring, other wise the mixture will foam. When its ready, the mixture will get a texture like wet sand. Check the consistency of powder with your fingers; when it can be packed or shaped tightly, stop spritzing.
  • Take a little bit of the mixture, put it in your mold and press well. Add a little bit of the mixture again if necessary until the mold is full. Repeat the process until the mixture is finished.
  • Pop out directly. I you don’t have success with the shape, press the mixture into the mold and pop it out again. Let the bath bombs dry for 24 hours. When the bombs are ready, begin to make the frosting.
  • For the frosting: Melt the soap base in double boiler or use the microwave oven with the 10-second bursts and then pour it into a large stainless bowl. Add vegetable glycerin, the essential oils and half of the water. Stir thoroughly with the hand mixer and when the soap starts to stick on the mixer blades add the rest of the water. Stir again and put the whipped soap into the piping bag by using the spatula. Pour the whipped soap on the bombs the same way as when you make edible cupcakes.
  • Sprinkle the soap with glitter candy sprinkles. I put on top mini soap hearts because of Valentine’s Day.
  • Baking soda removes dead cells, the corn starch gives a soft texture to the skin while epsom salts remove toxins, calm the nervous system and relax the muscles.
  • Cream or tartar cream is a by-product wine production that occurs during the fermentation of the grapes. Removes dirt and toxins from the skin.
  • Coconut milk powder softens and moisturizes the skin, quinoa milk powder makes the skin shining, while sal butter from India, moisturizes instantly and deeply.
  • The synergy of essential oils from vanilla, lavender, jasmin and rose creates a relaxing and aphrodisiac atmosphere :)
